LIVESTOCK EVENTS AT THE MERCED COUNTY FAIR
The exhibition of Livestock gives Fair patrons the opportunity to explore farm animals up-close in an effort to educate the public on one of the many facets that make up our agricultural industry. These livestock events help to create the next generation of men and women in agriculture and by participating in these events, 4-H, FFA and Independent students not only have the opportunity to showcase and sell their animal projects, they also learn responsibility and gain agribusiness experience.
Livestock events take place in the Dairy Ring, Glacier Ring, Les McCabe Arena presented by American Ag Credit and the Hilmar Cheese Barn added in 2016. See below for specific times for Livestock Events and information for those 4-H/FFA exhibitors.

Poultry Show Cancelled
Due to the outbreak of virulent Newcastle Disease in May 2018 in Southern California among the poultry population, its current containment efforts and given the fact that it has spread to Northern California, the Merced County Fair has decided to proactively cancel its poultry show at the 2019 fair. The virulent Newcastle disease is a highly contagious virus that is fatal and can spread quickly.
For more information on Newcastle disease, please visit the California Department of Food & Agriculture’s website at: www.cdfa.ca.gov/ahfss/Animal_Health/newcastle_disease_info.html
We look forward to bringing back the poultry show in the future. For this year’s fair, we are encouraging students to consider an alternate animal project such a rabbits for this year’s fair.
