“Growing up and living on a farm sparked my interest in agriculture from a young age. I joined the FFA so that I could build leadership skills and be involved in an organization that is known for encouraging hard work ethics, just like my parents have taught me. I also enjoy being part of something that is important to my community and will impact the rest of my life. All three years of high school I have been involved in our FFA program not just with hogs, but working in our school farm, floral, and shop classes. I have also received my State Degree, and hope to continue these activities my senior year.  I have shown market hogs and have received Reserve Champion Duroc at the fair for my last two hogs. I work very hard with my animals each year in order to be ready for fair. Due to our unfortunate circumstances this year, my Duroc gilt, Gia will be available at the virtual auction online. She is one of the best hogs that I have had, and I am proud of the job that I have done with her, regardless of getting to attend the fair or not.  This is truly an experience that I will never forget.”
