Red Cross MASH Bash
By Diane Booth Conway,
Merced County Fair Publicity Director

The Merced County Fairgrounds Pavilion was recently transformed into MASH Unit 4077 for the local American Red Cross chapter’s biggest fund-raiser, "MASH Bash." The event theme is based on the TV series and movie, MASH, about the mobile military hospital unit posted in Korea during the war. The eighth annual event included dinner, a raffle and dancing to music from the Fifties, and of course, refreshments from Rosie’s Bar.

According to Nancy Asay, the Merced County chapter’s Office Manager, about 300 people attended the benefit, many dressed up like MASH characters. The "MASH Bash" has become a popular event because, "People like to dress up and even the young people enjoy dancing to the oldies music," said Asay. "It’s a chance to have a fun evening for a good cause.
