Farm Safety Day Makes Staying Safe Fun

Youngsters from all over Merced County had fun learning how to be safe during Farm Safety Day at the Merced County Fairgrounds.
A total of 590 third graders from schools throughout Merced County attended the sixth annual event at the fairgrounds on May 17, 2007.
The event was organized by the Agri-Business Committee, a joint effort of the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce and the Merced County Chamber of Commerce.
Students are selected to participate in the program because many of them live on or near farms.
Demonstrations were offered at 12 stations including: all terrain vehicle (ATV) safety, outdoor survival skills, safety around power lines, firearms safety, safety around large and small farm animals, tractor safety, fire safety and chemical look-alikes.
