Fair Guitar Auction Raises $3,000
John Gottschalk, owner of Gottschalk Music Center, 355 W. Main St., donated a guitar for a charity auction. The guitar was signed by country artists Darryl Worley, Chris Cagle and Charlie Daniels after their performances at the 2004 Merced County Fair. Kevin Hall, of Copperopolis, bid on the autographed guitar during an on air auction (Radio station KKBN, a country station out of Sonora) and got up to $2,000 but couldn't go any further. But Dave Wishman of Jamestown called in during the on air auction and said he'd add $1,000 to Hall's bid if he could get his fiddle signed by Charlie Daniels. Wishman got his wish and Charlie Daniels signed the fiddle at the 2004 Merced County Fair. Kevin Hall got his guitar and the Sonora Area Foundation, which distributes funds to charities in the Sonora region, will receive the $3,000 raised at the guitar auction. |
