Reserve now for FREE Fair Tours for kids

School bus cartoonHands-on ag education is the goal of the one-day only event. The fair is offering special tours of exhibit buildings and the Old MacDonald’s Farm for children’s groups from area schools, Scouting organizations and summer recreation programs.

The fair is July 21-26 and reservations for the free one-hour tours are available now for Thursday, July 23 from 9 a.m. to noon. To schedule a tour or for more information, call 722-1507 or email to Info@MercedCountyFair.com

Attention Fair Exhibitors...
Bring your entries to the Fair on July 11

If you entered exhibits in the fair, don't forget that Saturday, July 11 is the day to bring them to the fairgrounds at 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

There are a few exceptions but most exhibits must be received on July 11. Items will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for divisions including crafts and hobbies, clothing and textiles, preserved foods, fine arts and photography. [More]

Jose Feliciano to wrap up Merced Fair

Jose FelicianoJose Feliciano, the Grammy-winning Latin artist known for mega-hits including “Light My Fire” and “Feliz Navidad,” will perform Sunday, July 26, wrapping up six nights of headline entertainment at the 2009 Merced County Fair.

Feliciano is a gifted guitarist with an impressive list of accomplishments including 45 gold and platinum records, 16 Grammy nominations and six Grammy Awards. He has recorded almost 70 albums and traveled to more than 80 countries, headlining concerts and serving as a goodwill ambassador.

Central Valley Concrete/Central Valley Trucking - sponsors of Outdoor Theatre & Grandstand!Each night of the fair, July 21-26, a headline entertainment act will perform in the CVC/CVT Outdoor Theatre. All Outdoor Theatre concerts are at 8:30 p.m. and are free with the price of admission. CVC/CVT Grandstand events are also free with admission and take place at 7:00 p.m. nightly, except Sunday's Bull Riding starts at 8:00 p.m.

Merced County Fair names new CEO

Thomas D. “Tom” Musser has been hired by the Merced County Fair Board of Directors. He will replace Robin Hauck, who served as the Merced County Fair’s CEO for more than three years. Musser's 34 years of experience in the world of fairs includes putting himself through college working at his hometown fair, booking events at San Francisco’s Cow Palace during its heyday and serving as the manager of fairs in both California and Washington. The 35th District Agricultural Association welcomes you to the Merced County Fair web site. The Fairgrounds is located in Merced, California, part of the sunny central San Joaquin Valley. The Merced County Fair serves the local ag community plus area residents with a fair each July featuring great entertainment, music headliners, rodeo, auto and motorcycle racing, tractor pull, midway fun, rides and thrills for all ages! Our fair exhibitors present an array of exhibits which include agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, art, photography, crafts, hobbies, home arts, mechanical science, large and small animals, horse show, livestock judging and auctions. In addition to the fair, our facilities are available for rent to host a variety of events year around.
